German LSP lingoking Chooses MemSource Cloud

May 16th, 2012 · Homepage

Germany’s lingoking is an innovative language service provider based in Munich. Towards the end of 2011 lingoking started a search for translation memory software that would match its fast-paced translation business. After 3 months of extensive testing lingoking decided to go with MemSource Cloud.

Co-founder and Executive of lingoking, Timo Müller said: “There were a number of reasons for choosing MemSource Cloud. Firstly, MemSource does a good job of centralizing all translation resources, such as translation memories, terminology and files for translation. Secondly, it is crucial that translators can access MemSource Cloud for free. What really decided was the dedication of the MemSource team and the support we got from them during the trial and that we continue to receive after becoming customers.”

MemSource founder and CEO David Canek said: “It is very reassuring to see fast-growing and forward-looking translation companies to become our customers. We are excited that MemSource Cloud can help drive the innovation that lingoking is bringing to Germany and the world.”

MemSource Cloud from a Japanese Perspective

April 21st, 2012 · Homepage

We have asked one of our Asian customers for feedback on MemSource Cloud. Masa Kajiki of MK Translation Firm, which provides mainly intellectual property translations, wrote this:

Our translation agency, based in Osaka, Japan, has been using MemSource Cloud since November 2011. We specialize in patent translations and other IP-related translation assignments. Therefore, one of our requirements was a high degree of information security. After a careful examination, we found MemSource Cloud to comply with our data security requirements, both in terms of legal and technical aspects (all communication being encrypted, and last but not least, covered by an NDA).

We found that it is much easier to control the quality of our translations with MemSource Cloud thanks to the fact that translation memory as well as terminology management is completely centralized. When a change is made to the term base or translation memory, it is immediately available to all of our translators. If I was to sum up our experience, I found MemSource Cloud to be a very efficient CAT tool for our project managers as well as translators. It is very user-friendly but at the same time provides the functionality you would expect from 21st century translation software. And the fact that the translator’s workbench is available for free made the adoption by our translators very easy.

For all these reasons we have just recently decided to expand our use of MemSource Cloud, effectively doubling the number of users we have there and making it our primary CAT tool.

MemSource Cloud 2.0 Has Arrived

April 12th, 2012 · Homepage

We have released MemSource Cloud 2.0 to all our customers on  April 12, 2012 at 8:30am GMT.

All MemSource users should install the latest version of MemSource Editor (1.39). Otherwise they do not need to take any special action. However, they should consider the following:

  • MemSource Cloud 2.0 features will only be available for new projects (created after the release of MemSource Cloud 2.0). Existing projects will not be affected by this release in any way and remain, of course, fully functional.
  • MemSource Plugin will not be supported any more for new projects. However, for projects created before the April 12, 2012, the Plugin will remain functional.
  • If you have not done so already, start using MemSource Editor instead of the Plugin. MemSource Editor requires the MXLIFF bilingual format, which you can download from any MemSource project via the Download button.
  • The bilingual DOCX format continues to be supported also in MemSource Cloud 2.0
If you have any questions, contact our support.

These are some of the new feature MemSource Cloud 2.0 brings:

Comments with Resolved/Unresolved Status

A commenting feature with comment status (resolved/unresolved) makes it much easier to share translator/reviser/customer feedback across all workflow steps.

Version Control and Translation Workflow

MemSource got version control and workflow management. A project manager can now set up a workflow for a project, e.g. translation -> revision -> sign-off. Even complex workflows can be managed in an easy and user-friendly way. (Workflow is only available in the Team edition).

Split Files Get Displayed in Projects

Split files get now displayed in projects just as any other translation jobs. And they can be analyzed, pre-translated, joined and even further split. In the image below, the file Highlights.pptx was split into three parts, each representing an autonomous translation job.

Better Quality Assurance

Additional checks to QA have been added and reporting has been improved. As a result of that a project manager can immediately see whether QA has been run or not on a translation job.  For each translation project a project manager can select which quality assurance checks are mandatory:

Better Segmentation

In MemSource Cloud 2.0 default or custom segmentation rules can be selected for a translation job.

Additional Improvements

And there are over a hundred additional small improvements…
